Different English level has different validity
The validity of ICAO English qualification depends on your current language proficiency skills. Your language skills are reflected in so-called ICAO English Levels.
To harmonize ICAO language proficiency requirements with the EASA ones, the system of Levels has been established by both regulatory standards.
EASA FCL.055(c) mandates that except for pilots who have demonstrated language proficiency at an Level 6 - so-called Expert Level in accordance with Appendix 2 to Part FCL, the language proficiency endorsement shall be reevaluated.
- LEVEL 4 - validity 3 years by ICAO and 4 years by Regulation (EC) 1178/2011
- LEVEL 5 - validity 6 years
- LEVEL 6 - valid permanently
